Although I was not born in Mexico, I carry the seal
of Tlaquepaque, Zapopan, Tepatitlan, and my beloved city, Guadalajara.
I began my career when I was 16 at the University of "Artes
Plasticas" of Guadalajara. In 1986 I moved to Germany - to
Europe where both abstract and traditional art is continually developing.
Seven years later I
returned to Guadalajara to further develop my artistic skills under
the direction of my great friend, Professor Carlos Valencia. Feeling
very much at home and "rooted" in Guadalajara, I surprised
even myself in 1999 and moved to Corrales, New Mexico. Corrales
is today my hometown and my village, which I have grown to love
with all my heart. In 2003 I journeyed to Spain to study Gold Leafing
from the old world masters in Madrid. There I studied Restoration
and Painting under my friend and great teacher, Ana Diaz at the
Centro de Estudios de Restauracion en Obras de Arte. In 2004 I went
to Florence, Italy and focused my attention on Fresco painting.
My sacred art reflects my passion for the exquisite
traditional techniques couple with my enthusiasm for the modern.
I search for the very essence of each one of my characters, and
then give them a place in my contemporary and colorful projects.
